I was that little girl constantly being told to Stop Picking the Neighbors Flowers! So, when the time came to design my own garden and yard I knew I wanted lots of flowers for my kids to pick. 

Jane's pregnancy and birth was particularly difficult and I was overcome with gratitude for all the family, friends, and neighbors who helped my family during that time. So I decided that for each person that brought a meal, or watched my other kids, or helped fold laundry I would take them a thank you card with a bouquet of flowers from my yard. By the end of that beautiful summer of giving flowers I knew there was more to this flower thing. Flowers connected people in a way I still find difficult to describe accurately. 

As I thought about what I wanted to do with this new gift I could give the thought came to me to open a U-Pick Flower Garden. Let other people come pick flowers and give them away. Spread flowers. 

All winter I researched and planned to create a cut flower garden in a part of my vegetable garden. And that spring my husband and kids and I worked to make it happen. Then heartbreak. My brother tragically passed away. And again my amazing community gathered around my family and lifted us up. I was again overcome with gratitude for the incredible people who cared for us. And I spent another summer giving flowers as a small token of the gratitude that I felt. 

When there were too many flowers for me to cut on my own, I invited people to come and cut their own. It was magical. The sunshine, laughter, and beauty filled my garden and soul.

We have expanded the garden for 2020 and I hope that as you come and connect with God's beautiful gift of flowers that you will feel a small part of the hope, gratitude, and love that has gone into creating this garden haven.
